1:40 First Race
Preview (by
Bet365, best odds): Potentially a good race and Noble Alan might
be the answer to this puzzle although Best Prospect and Ignotus are obvious
players. The selection is held in pretty high regard at Greystoke and the fact
that he has been sent off as favourite for two starts is testament to that. The
brother to Full House should realistically have few problems with the prevailing
ground conditions and connections would be disappointed were he to get beat.
Best Prospect was travelling well enough when departing at Doncaster on debut.
He is interesting if the money arrives. Ignotus probably should have won at
Catterick on New Years Day and Tom Greenall replaces a 10lb conditional in the
plate. Richard Fahey's stable are returning back to form and Mutawaffer, who was
last seen in the Ebor, is an interesting recruit to the winter game. Pre Token
will need to build upon a victory in a Towcester bumper. Veiled Applause might
be better than the bare form of his debut suggests and faster ground would be a
help. Oscar Gogo is another to consider if the market speaks in his favour but
might be better in time over chase fences. Description put up a fair effort
first time up for new connections. A good race and Noble Alan gets the nod.
4:40 Last Race
Preview (by
Bet365, best odds): Corrib Lad can claim
this ahead of Another Promise and Kyathos. Lenny Lungo's yard are in much better
nick of late and with two recent runs under his belt, there can be few excuses
about racefitness. A recent fifth to Hue at Carlisle reads particularly well in
the context of this race. Another Promise is proven at graded level over chase
fences and is of obvious interest off this much lower hurdling mark. It does not
follow that he can convert the opportunity and with short prices likely on
seasonal reappearance, better value could lie elsewhere. Kyathos is basically
plating class. He is consistent enough if ordinary. Fair Spin has never quite
justified the promise he once had. Micky Hammond can get them ready first time
out and a season off might just have made all the difference. Sybrarite Chief is
another to watch in the market on reappearance. Windygate proved a surprise
favourite over further at Kelso last time out although never looked like landing
the gamble on the day. Thenford Star appears to be best of the rest. Corrib Lad
looks likely to provide an element of value at the likely odds and it is to
Lenny Lungo's charge that we offer the nod.
