Ukraine and Poland to host Euro
2012
The corruption scandals and insane security
measures in Italy probably took away the hosting of Euro 2012 from the
once favorite to win. Ukraine and Poland won the vote in Cardiff and
will jointly host the games in 2012. Another joint bid was from Croatia
and Hungary, but unfortunately to the citizens of those countries, it
did not get any votes at all.A
great presentation by the Ukraine-Poland committee was staged on
Tuesday, featuring some of the countries' famous football players -
Shevchenko and Dudek. They were considered the underdogs until the last
minute, which came to show that all bids were worthy of presentation.
The 2012 games will be played in four
Ukrainian cities- Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Lviv, and six
Polish - Warsaw, Gdansk, Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw and Chorzow.
