UEFA fines both Man Utd and Lille
Uefa gave fines to both teams for the
incident in France, which caused fans of Manchester United to be pushed
against the 10 ft fence during the Champions League game last month.
The fine for the French team is 100,000
Swiss Francs for failing the security provisions established by Uefa,
poor organization of the event, and for the threats by Lille to leave
the stadium after Giggs' goal.
The English club was fined 15,000 Swiss
Francs for the misbehavior of their fans which lit a few fireworks
during the game.
It is not been announced as of yet if any
of the teams will take advantage of the three-day appeal period.
